The Digital Economy And Its Role In Increasing Customs Revenues in Iraq For The Period 2019-2022

Abstract

This research aims to study the role of the digital economy in increasing customs revenues in Iraq during the period from 2019 to 2022. With the global shift towards the digital economy, new technologies and multiple applications have emerged that have directly affected customs systems and their efficiency, which will be positively reflected in customs revenues. The results showed that adopting digital technologies such as advanced customs data management systems has improved efficiency and reduced smuggling and corruption. These technologies also increased transparency and speed of customs transactions, which contributed to a significant increase in customs revenues during the study period. One of the most essential recommendations in this research is to continue investing in digital technology and developing the necessary infrastructure. The research also highlights the importance of international cooperation and exchanging experiences with countries with remarkable successes in the digital economy and its customs applications. All of the above results and recommendations contribute to providing visions and strategies that help improve customs performance and increase revenues, supporting the national economy and achieving sustainable development in Iraq.
