The Strategy of Attracting Deposits and Its Impact on the Money Supply in Iraq for the Period 2005-2019

ABSTRACT

This research seeks to study and analyze the components of the money supply for both narrow and broad concepts within the Iraqi economy between 2005 and 2019 by utilizing the inductive approach in the descriptive method. Additionally, this work aims to investigate the ratio of deposits to the money supply, which can reveal people’s confidence in the banking system. According to the research findings, the highest percentage of contributions from the money supply were recorded during the research period, indicating a lack of confidence in the banking system. Thus, this study has suggested that implementing modern electronic mechanisms and systems would attract individuals to deposit their money in banks.
