Abstract

This study tried to explore the role of strategic consensus of Top Management Team (TMT) in its two dimensions, namely, consensus on strategic objectives and consensus on competitive priorities in enhancing the effectiveness of strategic decisions in relation to the quality and of those decisions .The study adopted a descriptive and analytic approach for opinions of (146) board directors in (21) industrial companies in Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals. The results showed a significant relationship between strategic consensus in its various dimensions and the effectiveness of strategic decisions of the companies surveyed. Moreover the study also introduced a set of recommendations and suggestions in concern to its topic, such as the need of industrial companies to develop their own philosophy and expanding their interests towards strategic consensus of boards of directors to become part of strategies aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of its strategic decisions.
